Part 2 — understanding, planning and structuring the cue card

Read the card; 60-second plan; Plan → Point → Detail; useful note-making.

Week 3

Part 2

Part 2 — developing and sustaining a two-minute talk

Sustain speech across 2 minutes; cover the card; recover when obvious content runs out.

Phase two

Core

One speaking lesson a week, plus a short activity in the other two sessions.

Weeks 4–7

Part 3 — giving opinions + explaining reasons

Opinion → Reason; answer abstract questions with a clear stance.

Week 5

Part 3 — developing ideas + examples

Opinion → Reason → Explanation → Example; extend a one-line opinion into a full answer.

Part 3 — comparing, qualifying and conceding

Compare, qualify, concede; add nuance ("it depends…", "that said…").

Fluency + coherence

Speak at length without long pauses; link ideas with discourse markers; self-correct smoothly.

Pronunciation — stress, thought groups and intonation

Sentence stress, thought groups, intonation; shadow a model; audible improvement.

Exam readiness

Weeks 11–12

Full Speaking test + diagnosis

Full Speaking test + diagnosis

A full recorded P1+P2+P3 to time; self-assess against the four criteria; diagnose the weakest.

Week 12

Final mock + targeted repair / reperformance

Final mock + targeted repair / reperformance

Second full mock; per-criterion feedback; re-perform the weakest part with a fix.
